Con ciertas vibes y guiños recurrentes a la insuperable 'Sex and the City', esta serie le regala a su público objetivo todo lo que desea ver: glamour, romanticismo y, cómo no, París, la ciudad en la que, como bien nos enseñó 'Ratatouille', todos los sueños pueden hacerse realidad.

Patricia Field es LA diseñadora de vestuario. A sus 79 años, Patricia ha sido la artífice de los diseños detrás de cada uno de los capítulos —y películas— de 'Sex and the City', 'The Devils Wears Prada' o 'Confessions of a Shopaholic'. Y sí, la cabeza pensante detrás del icónico tutú blanco de Carrie Bradshaw también ha sido la encargada del vestuario de todo el elenco de 'Emily in Paris'. 

Patricia Field is THE costume designer. At 79 years old, Patricia has been the architect of the designs behind every single episode -and movie- of 'Sex and the City', 'The Devils Wears Prada' or 'Confessions of a Shopaholic'. And, yes, the mastermind behind Carrie Bradshaw's iconic white tutu has also been in charge of the wardrobe for the entire cast of 'Emily in Paris'.

Desde que se confirmó una segunda temporada de 'Emily in Paris' lo único que podemos preguntarnos es: ¿cómo evolucionará el estilo de Emily?, ¿con qué conjuntos nos sorprenderá esta vez? Y como todavía queda mucho para el estreno de los nuevos episodios (y para obtener todas estas respuestas), he tenido el placer de hablar con Patricia Field para que nos adelante qué es lo que podemos esperar del armario de Emily en una temporada de lo más prometedora. 

The second season of 'Emily in Paris' has been shooting for a few months now and all we can ask ourselves is: how will Emily's style evolve, what outfits will she surprise us with this time? And since there is still a long way to go before the premiere of the new episodes (and to get all these answers), I had the pleasure of talking to Patricia Field to give us a preview of what we can expect from Emily's closet in a very promising season.

Si algo destaca en el vestuario de Emily Cooper es la variedad, el color y los estampados. Como hemos podido ver a lo largo de la primera temporada, los looks de Emily no son el fruto de alguien que sigue fielmente las tendencias del momento, sino de alguien que ve la moda como un medio para experimentar y divertirse. Dicho esto, ¿cuál fue la inspiración para el estilo de Emily? Patricia Field nos lo cuenta: "Me encanta la ropa alegre y me encanta mezclar diferentes patrones y estampados siempre que haya un factor de unión como el color, el patrón o la forma. Así que quise eso para Emily". 

If there is one thing that stands out in Emily Cooper's wardrobe, it is the variety, color and prints. As we've seen throughout the first season, Emily's looks are not the fruit of someone who faithfully follows the trends of the moment, but of someone who sees fashion as a means to experiment and have fun. That said, what was the inspiration for Emily's style? Patricia Field tells us: "I love happy clothes and love to mix different patterns together as long as there is a uniting factor such as color, pattern or form. I just want that for Emily".

En estos momentos se está rodando en París la segunda temporada de la serie de Netflix y ya han salido a la luz algunos de los outfits que veremos en el personaje de Lily Collins. Y, sin la intención de hacernos mucho auto-spoiler, era imposible no preguntarle a Patricia qué es lo que podemos esperar del estilo de la protagonista en los próximos episodios: "Sin duda, podéis contar con ver más 'happy clothes'", nos dice la diseñadora, lo que se traduce en más mezclas de estampados y looks mucho más divertidos, coloridos y desenfadados. 

The second season of the Netflix series is currently being filmed in Paris and some of the outfits we will see Lily Collins' character in have already come to light. And, without the intention of making us too much of an auto-spoiler, it was impossible not to ask Patricia what we can expect from the protagonist's style in the upcoming episodes: "You can expect to see more 'happy clothes'", the designer tells us, which translates into more mixes of prints and much more fun and colorful looks.

Los fans de 'Sex and the City' estaréis de acuerdo en que a lo largo de la serie vemos muchos paralelismos y guiños al inconfundible estilo de Carrie Bradshaw, como el vestido de tul negro o el asimétrico en blanco que luce Emily. Entonces, esto nos lleva a preguntarnos lo siguiente: ¿vestiría una joven Carrie como Emily en 2021? Patricia Field lo tiene claro; ambas son muy diferentes: "La joven Carrie Bradshaw era muy aventurera y conocedora de la moda y de las tendencias del momento. En cambio, a Emily Cooper lo que le gusta es divertirse con su ropa". 

Fans of 'Sex and the City' will agree that throughout the series we see many parallels and nods to Carrie Bradshaw's unmistakable style, such as the black tulle dress or the asymmetrical white dress Emily wears. So, this leads us to ask ourselves the following question: would a young Carrie dress like Emily in 2021? Patricia Field is clear; the two are very different: "A young Carrie Bradshaw was very adventurous and fashion savvy. Emily Cooper likes to have fun with her clothes".

Todo apunta a que en esta segunda temporada podremos ver a una Emily Cooper mucho más adaptada y más segura de sí misma, algo que se reflejará en un vestuario con unos looks mucho más divertidos, extremados, coloridos y con ese toque chic parisino que tanto la caracteriza. Porque, si la moda no es para divertirse, entonces, ¿para qué es? 😉

Everything looks like in this second season of the Netflix production we will see a much more adapted and self-confident Emily Cooper, something that will be reflected in a wardrobe with much more fun, extreme and colorful looks. Because, if fashion is not for fun, then what is it for? 😉
